Hans

It was 9:00 PM, the night after Halloween. Almost all the kids in the neighborhood stood there in the dark, gasping with anticipation every time a car turned the corner onto our street. I couldn’t wait until one of those cars was my mom’s, bringing home our adorable little puppy, named Hobbes.

Jamie and her Story about Lexie

By Jamie

Lexie---A Special Member of Our Family

Lexie

After several years of begging, I finally convinced my parents that I would take care of a dog if they would let me get one.  That began our family’s search for the perfect dog. My mom took a quiz on the internet which led us to a Danish Swedish Farmdog link. We investigated further and discovered that these dogs seemed to be terrific! Not only were they intelligent and loving, they were small and didn't shed much. Fist visit to the litterAmazingly, although they were a rare breed, there were Farmdogs within an hour’s drive so we decided to go and see a few Farmdogs in person.

We went to watch a flyball tournament where we met Flora, Hannah and Solo. We were immediately taken with the breed. We were lucky enough to be referred to Kennel Pacific Rim and after an introduction we were placed on a waiting list for a puppy. Lexie's frst Confirmation Show I had spent the previous summer working and saving for a puppy so I was able to use my earnings to buy a Farmdog from Carol, Lexie's breeder. I came up with half the money and my parents decided that I was responsible enough to care for a dog so they paid for the other half and we prepared to bring Lexie home. I kept a countdown of the days it would be until Lexie was old enough. I still remember the day we got to go to Carol's home and see Annika and five cute, little puppies. My brothers and I let them crawl all over us and enjoyed every minute of it.

Lexie's puppiesWhen we were lucky enough to get to take Lexie home, my family was overjoyed! We quickly trained our little puppy who was more than eager to learn. Not long after, she won her first of many ribbons! We continued to enjoy her obedient and loving personality so we decided to breed her.  I don't think we've ever had as much excitement and energy in our house as we did with her first litter, the California litter of six.  Number six was a surprise because the vet had told us Lexie was expecting five puppies.  Although it was a lot of work, we hope to be able to breed her again because it exceeded our expectations.

Lexie is an integral part of our family.  Everyone who comes to the house loves her and we can't imagine what it would be like without her.
